Though Mike Stewart effectively uses a variety of the very best in new knife steels available, most of Bark River's knives employ A-2 carbon tool steel. Mike Stewart has found over his many years as a knifemaker that A-2, combined with his proprietary heat treatment and convex grind, yields an easy-to-sharpen edge with remarkable durability. He makes this excellent tool steel perform on par with the best of steels on the market.
