Arno Bernard is one of South Africa's finest knife makers.
Arno has been making custom knives for over 35 years. He made his first knife out of a saw blade in 1979, steadily perfecting his craft and becoming the master bladesmith he is today. He and his sons have built a great company producing beautiful knives.
Arno Bernard blades are Böhler N690 stainless steel -- custom heat-treated, hollow-ground and hand-polished into a tool you'll be proud to own and carry.
Living in South Africa, Arno Bernard is able to use some really exotic handle materials -- giraffe bone (which he collects himself, by the way), warthog ivory tusk, and saltwater crocodile hide, something I'd never seen before. He also uses some of the most beautiful mammoth tooth I've ever seen.
