Spyderco: Amalgam - Compression Lock Flipper - Carbon Fiber Composite - CPM-S30V - C234CFP
The Spyderco Amalgam knife is a versatile and practical working blade that combines all the advantages of their patented Compression Lock™ system, flipper opener, and a fully accessible Trademark Round Hole™ in the perfect package for everyday use.
CPM S30V Blade
The Amalgam's blade is 3.8" overall and crafted from American-made CPM S30V blade steel, offering excellent edge holding and corrosion resistance. The cutting edge is 3.4”, and the blade has a satin finish. The blade retains its sharpness even when you use it regularly, and it slices with ease thanks to the full-height grind. The most unique feature of the Spyderco Amalgam knife is that the CMP S30V drop point opens with a round hole or flipper. The round hole provides a controlled opening while the flipper opening is fast. Both methods of the opening are smooth thanks to the low-friction ball bearing washers inside the pivot. In the open position, the flipper of the blade serves as a functional lower guard.
Skeletonized Handle Construction
The handle features stainless steel liners which are nested into carbon fiber / G-10 laminate scales, keeping the overall profile slim while maintaining high strength. There are multiple key features of the handle profile that provide secure grip and improved comfort when cutting. The pronounced finger groove locks the knife into your hand and ensures that the knife will remain there in wet or dry working conditions. The high-strength G-10 handle scales are enhanced with a layer of textured carbon fiber that add stunning looks along with excellent grip. The closed length is 5.1" and yet remains totally pocket-friendly thanks to the slim design. The open-backed construction minimizes its overall weight, which also accentuates its balance. The lanyard hole and four-position clip support any carry preference.
The Amalgam knife is enhanced with the Spyderco's Compression Lock™ which looks a lot like a reverse liner lock. The controls of the lock are located on the spine of the handle, making it safer and easier to disengage. By wedging itself between a stop pin and the blade tang, the compression lock is able to better redistribute forces applied to the blade, making it one of the strongest locking mechanisms available on the folding knife market.
The Amalgam is designed from top to bottom to be a high-performance every-day carry blade and gives you all the features you need to put it to hard work.
