This very special Native 5 commemorates Spyderco's 50th Anniversary. The blade is CPM-S90V, a particle metallurgy steel that is high in vanadium for extreme wear resistance. The frame is built on stainless steel liners with a custom filework pattern and polished amber bone scales. However, the real star of the show is the bolster. It is a custom-forged piece of mosaic Damascus steel that represents over 1,200 hours of work by Ed and Martin Schempp. They started with layers of 1084 and 15N20 steel and performed many careful processes in order to forge a mosaic checkerboard of the Spyderco "bug" logo - not a machined engraving, but forged into the Damascus pattern itself. It's an amazing capstone to celebrate 50 years of Spyderco!
