The Benchmade 781 Anthem model is set to conquer the hearts of knife lovers the world over. It is also a first for the knife world, as it is the first ever single piece Titanium AXIS lock knife, offering no compromise between lightweight and solidity. This folding knife is virtually indestructible and feather light at 3.66 oz.

Design and Ergonomics

The design of the new Anthem is sleek and functional. The handle is made from a single piece of anodized Titanium. The chevron pattern texture on the handle provides a sure grip and a striking appearance. With a very robust and solid construction, it is a knife made to last.

The Anthem boasts a reversible tip-up Titanium clip designed to fix the knife in place without any undue discomfort to the owner. The clip works in tandem with the dual thumb studs and the symmetrical AXIS lock to make every function of the Anthem totally ambidextrous.

The Anthem has managed to bring all facets of quality knife design and manufacturing in one single package (durability, ergonomics, edge and aesthetics.) The blade and body of the knife both have a stonewashed finish that will wear in nicely over time and hide scratches more easily.

The Blade

The business end of the Anthem is a CPM-20CV stainless steel with a drop point style. The high-quality blade is designed for everyday use. It is not only robust and weatherproof, but also extremely sharp and edge retaining, cutting down on blade sharpening chores.

At 3.5 inches, the blade provides ample cutting edge without a bulky overall size. In the open position, the knife is a whopping 8.06 inches. More than large enough to get any job done and offer plenty of room for a full-hand grip.

Maintenance

The Anthem is intended for everyday use, so it needs to be hassle-free while seeing plenty of usage. Thanks to the single piece titanium frame, titanium clip, and coil spring AXIS lock, there is little that can go wrong with the and would be almost impossible to do so. The durable stainless blade steel and the worn in stonewashed finish make it even easier to use without fear of unsightly wear marks.

The Anthem is an exciting design: robust, functional, and beautifully executed. It’s the ultimate Benchmade EDC.

Beautiful but not worth the $$$$

The knife is beautiful and well made in the tradition of Benchmade. However, when I hold it in my hand it doesn't feel like a $425 knife. It's very reminiscent of the BM 943. Also, a stonewash finish on CPM-20CV is a waste. The material has such a luster with even a light polishing or fine grind. With that said, it's still a great knife, but I'd wait until you can get a better deal before buying it.
