When it comes to bang for your buck, it’s pretty hard to beat the Benchmade 200 Puukko. Inspired by traditional Scandinavian bushcraft knives, this Puukko is a modern take on the classic Scandi style and is a welcome addition to the impressive range of Benchmade fixed blades.

Puukko knives are traditionally carried by both men and women in Scandinavia for day-to-day use. This knife has to survive harsh Northern conditions in all kinds of applications, from hunting to farming to bushcrafting. Blade Steel

The biggest player here is the CPM-3V steel, Crucible’s particle metallurgy tool steel that has incredible properties. It maintains some of the highest toughness on the market, allowing it to withstand more abuse in the field than other steels. The edge holding is impressive as well, and you’ll be able to tackle long chores without the need to stop and resharpen halfway through.

The drop-point blade is sharpened with a saber grind that provides the perfect blend of durability and sharpeness. It’s the perfect blade style when you need your knife to be an all-around companion that isn’t limited to performing a single type of task.

Handle Construction

The handle of the 200 Puukko follows the barrel shape of a traditional Scandi knife but utilizes an updated material. The textured santoprene has the perfect amount of tackiness and traction. It’s comfortable, impact resistant, and slip resistant in any conditions. As is customary with Puukko blades, there is no guard to get in your way. The entire purpose of the handle is to be both comfortable and maneuverable, allowing you to change your grip as needed for any situation.

Dangler Sheath

Benchmade created a leather dangler sheath for this knife with a protective liner inside the pouch. The size is just right and has a drop loop (may snap off if preferred) that makes the knife dangle below the waistline, keeping it out of the way while you sit, stand, and move around with the knife on your hip. With the integrated firesteel loop, you will have everything you need by your side when you face the outdoors.

The overall feel of working with the BM200 is perfect. It has become an instant favorite with hikers, hunters, and backpackers alike. Made in the USA by Benchmade with their LifeSharp warranty, the 200 Puukko can’t be beat.

The manufacturer does not allow this item to be sold internationally.

    Awesome Overall

I really like the handle no hot spots at all, it's light and gripy. 3V is new for me but so far so good. The sheath works great , nice leather with a fire steel loop. The spine tho isn't sharp, but that doesn't bother me. Might get the Leuku at some point. DBK made me want this knife.

Excellent all around low profile knife for the money

The knife arrived nicely boxed up, packaging was minimal (minimal waste is ideal). It arrived speedily, always a bonus! The knife looked good, wickedly sharp. It did arrive in a condition that benchmade claims is shave sharp, it parted hairs on my arm without much effort but if going by literal meaning its not exactly sharp enough to shave cleanly. It's much better than my last benchmade knife experience. I have a large hand size so my only critiques are that the handle doesn't have a shape that discourages absent minded placement of the fingers (fingers may drift past the edge of the handle towards the blade edge). The lack of any grip surface on the top edge of the blade for my thumb was notably absent as seen in pictures. Overall the size and shape are nice, I presently use it for cutting tasks outdoors and in the garage. I hope this edge lasts a long time, 3v steel is very hard (almost as hard as 4V/SV110/SV90/M4)
