Bark River Knives: Rogue Bowie

Bark River Knives: Rogue Bowie

The Rogue Bowie is Bark River's version of the first real Bowie knives made in the United States.

The year was 1827, the location Natchez, Mississippi -- the very time and place that Jim Bowie came into world prominence for his rough fight on the Vidalia Sandbar. The Sandbar was just south of Natchez, and local blacksmiths began filling requests for "a knife like Bowie's."

The Bark River Rogue is crafted in this early Natchez style. It's sized from an vintage example in the Arkansas State Museum, a knife credited to early Bowie maker James Black.
