FAQ: Does 'camel bone' have any advantages over conventional (cattle) bone?

29th Jun 2015

When a description on KnivesShipFree says "bone," it means "cattle bone" -- to be precise, shin bone. Camel bone is (please pardon the expression) a whole different animal.

Camel bone is denser than cattle bone, and thus it's somewhat harder. It also takes dye and stabilizing compounds differently, giving it its own unique character.

Bone is known for its consistency and durability, and it's been used in knife handles for centuries.
