 U1
This folding knife is a bit special - it combines modern steel technology with a hundred year old, folding knife design. Mod. U1 lacks a blade lock. This means that, in many countries, it will most likely be considered as a pocket knife, and therefore be allowed to be carried in public places, with the exception for restaurants, sports arenas and school grounds. The blade is instead held in place with an springsteel key, a technique which has been in use for more than 100 years and which ensures that the blade does not fold. The blade is made of laminate powder steel, our famous 3G-steel, and this guarantees edge retention beyond the ordinary. The handle is made from stainless liners with the sides in beautiful cocobolo, ocean blue, or ochre yellow, smooth bone. It is delivered with a slimfit black cordura sheath. With nail-nicks in both sides of the blade back, the knife is completely symmetrical and is as easily handled by both left-handed and right-handed users.

  • Folded Length: 86mm
  • Blade Length: 62mm
  • Weight: 2.2
  • Steel: 3G
  • Hardness (edge): 62 hc
  • Handle Material:  Cocobolo
  • Locking: No--Slipjoint

    Care
A folding knife of necessity can never be as strong as a sheath knife, since it contains several moving parts. A folding knife is a precision instrument, which should be treated with respect and thought. If a folding knife is subjected to heavy use, it will inevitably result in a skewed blade with unreliable blade locking, and no guarantees cover this. A modern folding knife should be cleaned regularly with warm water and a mild detergent. Oil and fat should as far as possible be avoided, since today&#39s knives have self-lubricating bearings. Fat and similar substances attract dust and dirt and increase wear rather than reducing it. The simplest way to sharpen the knife is with a fine diamond whetstone, and to obtain that final razor sharpness, use a ceramic whetstone, see our DC3 and DC4 combination whetstones.

Warranty
Fallkniven offers a two-year warranty covering defects in materials and in manufacture, i.e. faults that occur during manufacture but which are not noticed until the knife is used. We repair or replace the knife. The warranty is void if the knife is used incorrectly - the knife is intended for cutting with and is not for twisting, bending, chopping or hitting. Discolouring caused by blood, salt-water, or other corrosive substances is not covered by the warranty, neither is a broken tip. The warranty does not include the sheath.

    Fallkniven U1

Posted by William H Fite on 7th Nov 2018

This is my second order from KSF. As before, they shipped on the day of order and I received the U1 three days later. It was well packed and in perfect condition. Fallkniven is bit of a sleeper among American knife collectors, which is unfortunate because they use a variety of top-notch blade steels and their materials and workmanship are superb. My highest recommendation for both KSF and Fallkniven.
