The popular Sage Series is a platform Spyderco has always used to highlight various locking mechanisms and honor their originators. On this same iconic design, the Sage 1 fulfills that purpose by featuring the Michael Walker Liner Lock, and in this special version it pairs that mechanism with an upgraded blade of Micro-Melt® Maxamet steel. This extremely hard powdered tool steel supersedes conventional steels with properties nearing those of cemented carbides. The leaf-shaped blade has a full-flat grind for excellent cutting geometry and is housed in a handle with gray peel-ply-textured G-10 scales, full stainless steel liners, and a reversible deep-carry wire clip.
