FAQ: What is Kirinite?

Kirinite is a next-generation acrylic, billed to be as tough as the more-familiar Corian.

Knifemakers like Kirinite because it's easy to shape using conventional woodworking tools. It's also regarded as relatively "grippy."

The material has intense, bright-pearl coloring, evoking memories of something we used to call "metalflake." Very thin colored strands of poly-paper are swirled through the mix to give a finished Kirinite knife handle a one-of-a-kind character.
