Custom Replacement Handle Upgrade

Do you love your Benchmade Griptilian, but you're tired of the less-than-premium-feeling handles?

Time for an upgrade!

These custom G-10 handle scales -- available exclusively from KnivesShipFree -- have been machined specifically for the full-size Benchmade Griptilian and are a direct replacement for the original Noryl GTX handles. They'll completely change the way your knife looks and feels.

All of the hardware you'll need is included. These replacement handle scales fit all full-size Benchmade Griptilian models (550, 551, 553).

Specifications:

  • Weight: 5.1oz (original Benchmade scales weigh 3.76oz)
  • Handle Thickness: 19.2mm (original Benchmade scales are 16.25mm thick)

Installation

It's easy to install these upgraded handle scales on your Benchmade Griptilian. The only tools you'll need are three Torx bits (T6, T8 and T10, all of which are available in the Benchmade Blue Box Toolkit).

To help make it even easier, KnivesShipFree has produced two installation guides:

Note: KnivesShipFree cannot warranty any broken or lost parts due to assembly or disassembly of the knife. This is not an official Benchmade product. According to Benchmade's warranty policy, "[The Benchmade Lifetime Warranty] does not cover...disassembly of any knife by any person other than Benchmade's Warranty department...."

    Strong, beautiful and hefty

These scales turned my Griptillian from a knife that I almost returned, to one of my fidget toys. They add more than twice the weight of the original scales but make the knife solid and more comfortable because of the added palm swell.

    Damn nice scales!

While these scales cost almost as much as the knife, the improved look, feel and heft of the knife is far superior to the original. I was fairly disappointed with the stock Griptillian and almost returned it. I am extremely glad I bought these scales and now this Griptillian is up there in price and quality with a couple of my 940's. Installation It took me about 20 to 30 minutes for the complete job. I was having issues getting the pivot reinserted. Once I slid out the washer on the opposite side, I was able to get enough wiggle room to get it started and then slide the washed back in and then push the pivot all way through. I had the scales attached will all screws loosely fastened during the whole process. There were 6 short screws and 3 long screws in the pack was well as a piece that looked like a small pivot without screw holes that I think is an extra spacer for the Axis Lock, that I didn't use. I ended up using 3 short and 3 long screws to secure the scales. I like the sleeves for the scale screws that make a more solid assembly.
