After noting improvements offered to them by soldiers and cops in the field, RAT Cutlery took the popular Ontario/RAT RAT-3, added 3/8" of handle length, a glass-breaking pommel, larger handle screws, then differentially heat-treated the 1095 carbon steel and dressed up the Micarta slabs to build the RAT Cutlery RC-3. They then coupled this improved model with a sheath system (included with any RC-3 purchase) that can be carried in just about any configuration for the perfect, lightweight carry knife. The RC-3 features a substantial upgrade in overall fit and finish, as well as  lined gray Micarta slab handles and a Super Tuff black textured powder coat on the steel. 

The partially serrated version features five equally spaced aggressive serrations that can be re-sharpened with a 3/8" diameter hone. These serrations are much more efficient than most and easily cut through canvas, seat belts or other flexible materials. 

The Sheath System

A Great Knife deserves a great sheath, and the RAT Cutlery knives are no exception. The Sharpshooter Sheath Systems "Field Sheath" is designed from the ground up to be as rugged as the knife it carries and as tough as the man carrying it.

The RAT logo proudly displayed on the front of the sheath to let everyone know that you are carrying the best.

The loop is a full 2 1/2" wide so it will easily slide over a Cartridge or Riggers Belt or you can use the supplied holes to easily attach any hardware with 1 1/2" spacing for MOLLE/ILBE compatibility.

The Integral Loop holds a Military Firesteel or AAA Flashlight securely while keeping it readily at hand.

A tie down tab is built in at the bottom of the sheath to make it easy to lash the sheath down if that's how you prefer to carry your knife.

A drain hole in the sheath is included because we know that getting wet is sometimes just part of the deal.

The Field Sheath is protected with Sharpshooter Sheath Systems' exclusive EEP (Extreme Environment Protection) to allow the sheath to survive in the harshest environments in the world. EEP treated sheaths simply don't absorb water even after hours of submersion and will not mildew regardless the environment.

Extreme heat will dry out most leather sheaths, EEP protects the sheath from the scorching heat or the desert, keeping the leather soft and supple. The EEP Treated RAT Field Sheath combines the durability of Kydex with the tactical advantages and versatility of leather.
